Steven Arthur Pinker is an experimental psychologist who is fascinated with the mind, human nature and language.
Having received his PhD from Harvard, he taught at Stanford and MIT before becoming Johnstone Professor of Psychology at Harvard University. Pinker’s early career focused on the ability of humans to recognize objects, shapes and faces (known as visual cognition) before moving on to topics related to language such as the development of speech in children. In September 2021, he published his twelfth book titled Rationality: What It Is, Why It Seems Scarce, Why It Matters.
The Life of the Mind with Steven Pinker
Steven Pinker’s painstakingly curated Videobook will answer many lingering questions that arise in the curious mind. Does the human mind see patterns where there are none? If so, is that an overabundance of rationality? What is the “mind’s eye”? How can we picture physical objects with our eyes closed? Can music be analyzed using math? Has civil advancement impacted violence? Why do children grasp new languages more easily? Do bilingual children develop differently from monolingual children? Through this course, you will be able to answer these questions and many more.
